Training

The IDN provides one-on-one support in a variety of topics connected with research data and data visualisations through the researchsupport@it.ox.ac.uk mailbox:

  • Software selection
  • Visualisation design and development
  • Intellectual property and copyright
  • Repository selection and long term data/code preservation
  • Data management planning

Training for IDN supported software is discussed in further detail from the sub-pages available on this page.

For mid to large-scale software projects, you may find the Research Software Development Network (RSDN) a useful resource that provides a job listing board available when signed in with your SSO.

There are a wealth of training courses and material available through the IT Learning Centres; covering programming, database design/access, visualisation theory and software specific workshops. These course are taught by experts from across the University and delivered hands-on in computer labs, however attendees are often encouraged to bring their own laptops.

Oxford University provides all staff and students with access to lynda.com, a catalog of 5000+ professionally recorded video tutorials and workshops on a huge variety of subjects. From programming and scripting, to interactive data visualisation, advanced database topics, and more.
